Borough Air Quality Guidance

Air pollution affects our entire city, it’s not just a central London problem. To help tackle toxic air at a local level, the Mayor is providing public health professionals and local authority air quality teams with borough-specific guidance and data. This will enable effective local responses through setting out knowledge, recommendations, or approaches for action.

Despite recent improvements in air quality, toxic air pollution remains the biggest environmental risk to the health of all Londoners. It’s estimated that around 4,000 Londoners died prematurely in 2019 because of long-term exposure to air pollution. It is a cause of cancer and increases the risk of asthma, stroke and dementia. Pollution is also stunting the growth of children’s lungs in ways that will affect them for the rest of their lives. Collaborative, localised action has never been more important.

These documents present the latest air quality and health data and analysis for London’s 32 boroughs and the City of London in 33 bespoke reports. Click on the relevant borough below.
