  • An Economic Framework for London’ (December 2022)

    In November 2021, the Mayor published original framework to support the strategic coordination around the urgent recovery needs from the pandemic.

    This updated 2022 report helps us to identify gaps in our activity, to come together with partners around new areas of work and to meaningfully tackle challenges of this scale we now need a clear framework for action.To enable this, teams at the GLA, London Councils and boroughs have worked together to refresh the Economic Framework.

    There has been much recovery-focused work led by local authorities and GLA including the creation of the Economic Recovery Framework for London. However, there is no
    collectively agreed plan for the recovery of London’s Central Activities Zone (CAZ).
    This action plan aims to fill that gap, setting out how we will support the recovery and evolution of the CAZ post pandemic.

  • Flexible workspaces on our high streets (2021)

    Following the advice of the Mayor of London’s Workspace Advisory Group, this pamphlet has been commissioned to provide propositional guidance on how new flexible workspace can be brought forward through the repurposing of existing high street buildings.

    This pamphlet provides practical guidance and propositions for a reimagination of the relationships between landlords, tenants, operators, and local authorities, with the purpose of reducing the risk profile of vacant units, while ensuring that high street assets create social value by making space accessible for local business and enterprise.

  • Impact of Brexit Trade Deal on SMEs (May 2021)

    Description
    Greater London Authority's Opinion Research team undertook research, carried out by YouGov, with London's SMEs.

    The main objectives of the research was to understand the immediate impact of Brexit and the trade deal on London’s SMEs, including which areas of business are the most/least affected, and which areas of the trade deal are causing the most confusion. It also intended to assess the appetite of SMEs to continue/increase trading with the EU in light of the trade deal.

  • Innovation diffusion in London (Feb 2020)

    This study looks at innovation diffusion in London, providing evidence – from existing literature, empirical analysis and takeholder interviews – about the importance of diffusion in supporting productivity improvements, barriers to the effective diffusion of innovations and policy levers that could be used by the GLA to overcome these barriers. Analysis shows London is responsible for substantial amounts of knowledge spillovers for the city itself, the rest of the UK and globally.

  • Link between productivity and wages in London (Nov 2021)

    This report offers empirical evidence on the impact of labour productivity on wages at the firm and at the local labour market levels (Travel-To-Work-Area, TTWA) in Great Britain (GB), with a focus on firms based in London and within the local labour markets composing the Greater London Authority: London and Slough and Heathrow (S&H).
    The aim of this report is to offer evidence to ground policies that aim to foster productivity recovery, including in areas that top the productivity and wages distribution such as London, stimulate wage growth and living standards more generally, without increasing inequality within and between areas.

  • London: The AI Growth Capital of Europe’ (June 2018)

    The Mayor commissioned CognitionX to map Artificial Intelligence (AI) innovation across London and identify the capital’s unique strengths as a global hub of AI.

    The research shows that London is the European capital of AI, and world-renowned in sectors such as insurance and finance. The findings of this research will inform the actions the Mayor will take to support the future growth of AI across different industries to drive innovation, productivity and growth.
