  • Meeting date: 19 December 2024

Silvertown road tunnel fares consultation (1)

  • Reference: 2024/4035
  • Question by: Caroline Russell
  • Meeting date: 19 December 2024
In the responses to the consultation for the Silvertown and Blackwall Tunnels User Charges there was strong support for the regular cross-river cycle shuttle-bus through the Silvertown road tunnel to be free permanently, rather than just for the first 12 months. I note you still plan to review the pricing structure after the first year of use, could you tell me why you have not already decided to make the shuttle-bus permanently free of charge to enable to people to use their bicycles for trips that cross the river?

Net zero targets and advertising on the TfL network (3)

  • Reference: 2024/4034
  • Question by: Caroline Russell
  • Meeting date: 19 December 2024
In November 2024, C40 Cities produced an implementation guide advising how cities can restrict carbon-intensive advertising, which recommends drafting: “a clear and comprehensive high-carbon advertising policy for municipally owned advertising space.” This is not a policy to deal with misleading claims and social responsibility in advertising related to the environment, rather as the guide says: “Policy documentation should clearly explain how the high-carbon advertising ban aligns with the city’s objectives, what it covers and why, to reduce any ambiguity when it comes into force. The policy will act as the basis of negotiations and tendering activities between the city and...

  • Reference: 2024/4032
  • Question by: Caroline Russell
  • Meeting date: 19 December 2024
The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has recently published a letter in which it states: “JCDecaux [...] has confirmed that it ‘will not enforce any exclusivity terms which would prevent the installation of electric vehicle charging with integrated advertising that is at a distance of more than 25 metres from existing JCDecaux street furniture.’” What guidelines will Transport for London (TfL) be implementing to regulate the installation of electric vehicle charging with integrated advertising?

  • Reference: 2024/4031

How did the review of bus station layouts and arrangements at bus stations operated by Transport for London (TfL) impact the design of Kingston Cromwell Road bus station, which re-opened in November 2024, and how will you assess whether the safety measures implemented have reduced danger for people accessing buses on foot?

Rail corrugation data

  • Reference: 2024/4028
  • Question by: Caroline Russell
  • Meeting date: 19 December 2024
I have been made aware that the Advanced Technology Microwave Sounder (ATMS) system used by Transport for London (TfL) to measure corrugation on underground rail tracks does not tally with the experience of noise-affected residents. How is TfL working to reconcile data collected on rail corrugation with Tube noise experienced in residents’ homes?
