A recent TfL service update said “On Tuesday 12 November, the Piccadilly line will be suspended all day between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge. This is due to expected high leaf fall, which can damage train wheels and cause severe disruption.” Can you explain why high leaf fall results in Tube services being suspended?

Thank you for your response to my Question 2024/2998. I have not heard any reports of rail grinding from TfL since submitting this question. Is this because no rail grinding has taken place, or have I not been updated on these works by TfL officers?
