Net Zero Exposure for London Pensions Fund Authority (LPFA)

  • Reference: 2025/2747
  • Question by: Alex Wilson
  • Meeting date: 11 September 2025
As the administering authority behind the Local Government Pension Scheme which is the scheme for most of the GLA Group, the LPFA has announced its plan to invest some £400m of its assets in “climate solutions”. Given the poor returns of similar strategies (over the last 5 years, Greencoat UK Wind, a leading renewable investment fund returned under 20 per cent compared with just under 100 per cent for FTSE 350 Oil, Coal & Gas), will you urge the LPFA to revisit its plans in order to avoid taxpayers having to make up future shortfalls?
