Our response to your request is as follows:
1. Have you undertaken a Local Area Energy Plan?
Yes. The Greater London Authority has developed three subregional local area energy plans, covering 27 boroughs and the City of London. A final subregional local area energy plan is being prepared covering five boroughs. Full details of this work programme is provided on the GLA’s website at https://www.london.gov.uk/programmes-strategies/better-infrastructure/infrastructure-coordination/planning-service/local-area-energy-planning-london . In addition, the GLA has funded three local area energy plans at borough or local planning authority level, including London Borough of Enfield, London Borough of Tower Hamlets (Isle of Dogs), and Old Oak Park Royal Development Corporation. The links to publicly available documents can be found as follows:
Tower Hamlets (Isle of Dogs) - https://www.towerhamlets.gov.uk/Documents/Planning-and-building-control/Infrastructure-delivery/IOD-Local-Area-Energy-Plan-LAEP-report.pdf
Going forward, the GLA is supporting boroughs to build on the subregional local area energy plans already prepared, by contributing funding for development of Phase 2 local area energy plans which are focused on the borough specifically (rather than wider subregion). A total of 13 boroughs are taking forward this opportunity. Each borough is receiving a £40k - £50k grant from the GLA to support development of their Phase 2 local area energy plan, however this funding is anticipated to be supplemented by direct borough contributions. Boroughs are managing this process themselves, supported by the GLA's Zero Carbon Accelerator.
2. If so, can you advise if you received funding for this?
No. The Greater London Authority funded this work directly through its internal budget and/or zero carbon accelerator programmes.
3. If you did receive funding, can you confirm the amount and the source?
Not applicable.
4. If you haven't undertaken a Local Area Energy Plan, do you plan to undertake a Local Area Energy Plan in the future?
Not applicable.
5. If you plan to, can you identify a funding source and value of that funding amount you would like to request, please?
Not applicable.
