Extension of Planning of Powers (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: Bob Blackman
  • Meeting date: 15 November 2006
How do you square the circle on the potential, not necessarily for yourself but a future Mayor, meeting developers and then considering planning applications? So meeting in private developers, and then making decisions on planning applications in public?

Extension of Planning of Powers (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Bob Blackman
  • Meeting date: 15 November 2006
Mr Mayor, how are you going to suggest then that the London Assembly oversees those planning decisions to make sure they are open, transparent and properly accountable?

Vetting of LU Employees (Supplementary) [3]

  • Question by: Roger Evans
  • Meeting date: 15 November 2006
We certainly would not be held responsible for those I would hope! Just talking about what happened at the press conference, we have discussed this with Tim O'Toole and he says that you went to the press conference basically unbriefed about this issue which appeared on the front page of The Sun newspaper that morning. If it had been another type of issue, if there had been an incident or if there had been a policy announcement I assume London Underground would have briefed you before the press conference. I would have thought that it was almost a no-brainer that...

Vetting of LU Employees (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: Roger Evans
  • Meeting date: 15 November 2006
One of the things that will worry people about the response you have just given is that there seems to be no control over what our contractors and sub-contractors are doing at all. This is the case of a contractor to Metronet so it was some way down the food chain. Should there not be some sort of standard requirement that everyone who works on the underground, whether they are working for a privatised company or for Transport for London, should actually meet before they are allowed to do that? So you have a cross the board standard. We can...

Vetting of LU Employees (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Roger Evans
  • Meeting date: 15 November 2006
Did the case the other week of the employee who it turned out had convictions outside the country lead to any changes in the vetting procedure which had been put in place to improve things in future and to reassure Londoners about the people who are working on their tube system?

Zone Discounts (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: Elizabeth Howlett
  • Meeting date: 15 November 2006
It was a declaration. There is nothing I can say after he has made this statement.

Zone Discounts (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Elizabeth Howlett
  • Meeting date: 15 November 2006
That really is very unfortunate to hear. We know the western extension is really one of your daftest ideas. Nobody wants it. It looks neat on a map I can tell you that, but it is a waste of time. You are going to cause so much congestion in other parts of South London. People now in Battersea will be driving west in order to get over Wandsworth Bridge or Putney Bridge in order to avoid this area, and you are going to cause mayhem. I think this is one of the worst things you have done, and I am...

London Council Tax payers' contribution to the Cost of the Olympics (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: Damian Hockney
  • Meeting date: 15 November 2006
He is not going to be there very long though, is he?

London Council Tax payers' contribution to the Cost of the Olympics (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Damian Hockney
  • Meeting date: 15 November 2006
Will you support the motion calling on the Government to give us the unequivocal guarantee, because it is the Government that makes the decision at the end of the day?

Defective TfL Penalty Charge Notices (Supplementary) [4]

  • Question by: Damian Hockney
  • Meeting date: 15 November 2006
Why is there no mention in TfL's `Your Guide to the Congestion Charge' that a motorist can appeal against Congestion Charge fines etc? It is neither in the 2003 nor the 2006 edition. Perhaps you can put it in the next one?
