Hate Crime in London (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: Unmesh Desai
  • Meeting date: 21 November 2024
Unmesh Desai AM: I have 20 seconds to make two quick points, Mr Mayor. Firstly, in 2016, the PCC did a report about intimidation in Tower Hamlets during the local government elections. Those findings are still relevant. It is not the law; it is the failure to implement the law that is the problem. Can you get your office and MOPAC to revisit the recommendations to see that they are still relevant? Secondly, you did tell us that the MPS was going to do a report on the recent general elections and intimidation faced by candidates from all parties

Hate Crime in London (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Anne Clarke
  • Meeting date: 21 November 2024
Anne Clarke AM: Just coming back to the original question about hate crime in London, one of the important things that you said that stuck with me since 7 October [2023] has been really the very clear message - and I wonder if you wanted to take this opportunity to once again say again - that when things are happening in other places in the world, it is often those in London, in our great city, who feel the effects of that. You do have a powerful message about how we treat each other in the city and the expectation...

Supporting London’s high streets (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Len Duvall OBE
  • Meeting date: 21 November 2024
Len Duvall AM (Deputy Chair): Thank you very much. This is one of your flagship policies, is not it? I would like to hear the remaining part of your answer. You were in full flow and, rightly, Assembly Member Bokhari said, “I do not have the time.” Do you want to continue with your answer? I would like to hear about what the plans are in the future over the coming years.

Fire Safety in the Home (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: Hina Bokhari OBE
  • Meeting date: 21 November 2024
Hina Bokhari AM: Yes, just very quickly. I know that the family members of the first victims of the e-bike fatality have been asking for more public awareness, particularly on TfL, and making sure that there is an understanding of why there are public safety adverts on e-bikes and e-scooters and why that is. They have been pushing for this for quite a while now and I do hope that the Mayor is taking account of the family’s asks on this particular type of public awareness.
