The December 2024 Works In Progress magazine contains a detailed article describing the vast difference in cost per mile of new London Underground extensions, such as the Northern line to Nine Elms, and the far lower cost per mile of Madrid's expansion. It is in the order of 10x more expensive per mile in London, allowing for inflation. Do you agree that London could enjoy enormous benefits if it could lower its cost per mile close to Madrid's, and what work have you commissioned to both understand this cost difference and how to close it?
