As part of the process of introducing job families, I understand TfL now effectively has 127 pay bands. The upper and lower boundaries of these pay bands, and therefore what staff can expect to be paid, have not been shared with staff or unions, apparently as they are linked to “commercially sensitive data” provided by Willis Tower Watson, a consultancy firm. Are you comfortable with this lack of transparency within TfL’s pay systems? Are you confident that an opaque pay system will not find itself open to unfair pay with its impact on morale and potentially legal claims around equal...

TfL has recently moved their staff into a structure based on job families and these decisions will have a material effect on pay and pensions. Trade Union representatives have raised concerns that the process for challenging the decision will be flawed due to extended timescales and a lack of information available to staff clarifying the basis of the decision.
