  • Reference: 2008/0167
  • Question by: Murad Qureshi
  • Meeting date: 30 January 2008
Which borough's residents benefit the most in terms of cost from the Freedom Pass? Could you please provide us with a table of which Local Authorities make the largest financial contribution (with the biggest contributor at the top) and one which shows the residents of which boroughs benefit most.

Eastern European Immigrants Figures

  • Reference: 2008/0166
  • Question by: Murad Qureshi
  • Meeting date: 30 January 2008
The City of Westminster council claimed that 15,000 Eastern European immigrants currently unaccounted for are living in the borough, in an attempt to gain more money from the government. However, electoral registration figures released before Xmas revealed that there are only 1, 852 Eastern Europeans residents in Westminster. What does this reveal about the immigration campaigns of some local authorities?

Street Market TfL Profits

  • Reference: 2008/0165
  • Question by: Murad Qureshi
  • Meeting date: 30 January 2008
Could you tell us what annual profits are made by TfL on the street market between Shepherds Bush and Goldhawk Road tube stations and how much of this amount actually gets re-invested into the market itself?

Youth Provision

  • Reference: 2008/0164
  • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
  • Meeting date: 30 January 2008
How will the Mayor ensure that the £2.9 Million of additional funding going to Islington Borough Council for youth provision is treated as such and not absorbed by other departments or used to pay for existing projects?

Sunday Bus Performance in London

  • Reference: 2008/0163
  • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
  • Meeting date: 30 January 2008
In light of last October's London TravelWatch report "Sunday bus performance in London" which suggests, according to London Buses' own figures, that service reliability on Sundays is worse than the other six days of the week, what steps is the Mayor taking to respond to its recommendations and in particular to extend the operational days and hours of red route controls along bus routes and bus lanes, and to increase the enforcement of those controls to achieve levels of compliance at least as good as on those other days?

Stoke Newington Gyratory

  • Reference: 2008/0162
  • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
  • Meeting date: 30 January 2008
I understand that there is currently no TfL Officer leading the Stoke Newington Gyratory Feasibility Study in Hackney, which I find quite atrocious. What is the timeframe to have a new officer appointed to continue to lead on this important work?

78 Bus

  • Reference: 2008/0161
  • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
  • Meeting date: 30 January 2008
A Nunhead resident has asked me why is there currently no link between Queens Road and Nunhead without having to go all around the houses via Evelina Road, Peckham Rye and the bus garage? She suggests that the 78 could start from New Cross Gate Bus garage turn right down St. Marys Road or Lausanne Road and continue on its present route. This would save about half an hour when Rye Lane is jammed with traffic. Will TfL consider this suggestion and other possible solutions to improve the bus links in Nunhead?

East London Line replacement buses 2

  • Reference: 2008/0160
  • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
  • Meeting date: 30 January 2008
I have received complaints about the failure of TfL to provide an East London Line replacement bus link between the north and south of the river. One passenger previously had a 20min commute from Rotherhithe to Shadwell and now faces a journey of around 1hr unless she pays extra to travel into zone 1. Will TfL reconsider the decision not to provide a cross river link either through the Rotherhithe Tunnel or perhaps over Tower Bridge to Tower Gateway?

East London Line replacement buses 1

  • Reference: 2008/0159
  • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
  • Meeting date: 30 January 2008
What is the average number of passengers per journey using the ELP replacement bus between Canada Water and Rotherhithe Stations? What is the capacity on each journey? What is the cost of providing this service? Could the ELP make some additional stops on Salter Road so that this service could help to ease congestion on the 381 and C10 services to Canada Water?

Rename Surrey Quays Station

  • Reference: 2008/0158
  • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
  • Meeting date: 30 January 2008
Many local residents would like to see the name of Surrey Quays Station changed back Surrey Docks Station to recognise heritage of the area. As the station is currently closed for East London Line extension works this would be the ideal time to rename the station. Is TfL actively considering this request? When will a decision be made?
