  • Reference: 2008/0177
  • Question by: Geoff Pope
  • Meeting date: 30 January 2008
What steps is TfL taking to improve the frequency and reliability of the 31 bus service, given its importance as the only direct public transport link between Camden Town and Kilburn, and between the Northern and Jubilee lines north of Waterloo?

  • Reference: 2008/0176
  • Question by: Geoff Pope
  • Meeting date: 30 January 2008

Golders Green station

  • Reference: 2008/0175
  • Question by: Geoff Pope
  • Meeting date: 30 January 2008
Golders Green residents are frustrated that the train indicators at their station only ever indicate the next approaching train, whereas at other stations they show up to four forthcoming trains. Will TfL take steps to bring the information displays at Golders Green into line with the others on the Northern Line?

Employee parking at High Barnet station

  • Reference: 2008/0174
  • Question by: Geoff Pope
  • Meeting date: 30 January 2008
Given that TfL staff are allowed free travel on the system, why has all of the drop-off area at High Barnet station been allocated to employee cars? Will TfL reorganise this area so that at least some of it is available as a drop-off and pick-up area for the use of paying passengers?

West Hampstead Thameslink station

  • Reference: 2008/0173

  • Meeting date: 30 January 2008
What action does TfL intend to take to address the dangerous congestion at rush hours on the narrow staircases at West Hampstead Thameslink station?

Arts Council Proposed Cuts

  • Reference: 2008/0172
  • Question by: Murad Qureshi
  • Meeting date: 30 January 2008
I am very concerned about the negative effects that the Arts Council's proposed cuts in funding will have on London theatres. In particular Watermans, the Asian cultural centre in Brentford and the Bush Theatre in Shepherds Bush. The importance of Watermans to the South Asian Community and GLA cultural programmes such as Open Rehearsal, India Now and Big Dance is significant while the Bush Theatre plays an invaluable role in allowing young London playwrights to have their work performed and kick-start their careers. What will you be doing to prevent the threat against these important cultural institutions?

'A Question of Sports Travel'

  • Reference: 2008/0171
  • Question by: Murad Qureshi
  • Meeting date: 30 January 2008
To what extent are the considerations, raised in my report 'A Question of Sports Travel' in Oct 2007, being taken on board in this important move for the club and fans?

West Ham United

  • Reference: 2008/0170
  • Question by: Murad Qureshi
  • Meeting date: 30 January 2008
Can you please give us an update on the assistance being given by both the LDA and TfL on the future move of West Ham United to the new site in front of West Ham tube station?

White City

  • Reference: 2008/0169
  • Question by: Murad Qureshi
  • Meeting date: 30 January 2008
The BBC will be moving out of the Television Centre in White City in the near future. Considering the old Olympic White City Stadium used to be based very near this site on a spot that is now home to the BBC Radio headquarters and the need for bigger stadiums by local football clubs in Hammersmith and Fulham, what is your future vision for this major site?

Funding for Students

  • Reference: 2008/0168
  • Question by: Murad Qureshi
  • Meeting date: 30 January 2008
Would you share my concerns about the Government's decision to withdraw funding from institutions for students who are studying for a higher education qualification that is equivalent to, or lower than, a qualification that they have already been awarded? This will have a disproportionate impact on the part-time sector in general and on specific institutions such as Birkbeck College, which is set to lose seven and a half million pounds in funding. Do you recognise the importance to the London economy of adults studying part time to update their skills or change career direction?
