  • Reference: 2008/0185
  • Question by: Tony Arbour
  • Meeting date: 30 January 2008
Can the Mayor detail any work that TfL has done to investigate the use of RFID technology in Oyster Cards?

Routemaster

  • Reference: 2008/0184
  • Question by: Tony Arbour
  • Meeting date: 30 January 2008
Can the Mayor provide a complete breakdown of how David Brown, TfL's Managing Director of Surface Transport, came up with a figure of £600M as the cost of replacing bendy buses with Routemasters?

Hammersmith Bridge

  • Reference: 2008/0183
  • Question by: Tony Arbour
  • Meeting date: 30 January 2008
Hammersmith Bridge is a weak bridge which is not suitable for heavy vehicles. Whilst the bridge itself is the responsibility of Hammersmith and Fulham Council, would TfL consider improving signage on the Great West Road in order to try to reduce the number of HGVs that try to use the bridge to cross the river?

Buses to Kew

  • Reference: 2008/0182
  • Question by: Tony Arbour
  • Meeting date: 30 January 2008
With reference to my question 3076/ 2007, whilst the R68 provides a public transport option for those travelling from Richmond or Twickenham to Kew, the question referred to the lack of a direct bus route between Sheen and Kew. With that in mind, would the Mayor please consider either introducing another bus that goes through Sheen or extending the R68's route?

Kew Road Signage (3)

  • Reference: 2008/0181
  • Question by: Tony Arbour
  • Meeting date: 30 January 2008
It is TfL policy that road signs should always direct road users to take the shortest possible route. Would the Mayor agree that this policy implies that road signs should not suggest that motorists use ring roads, which, by their very nature avoid the most direct route through a town or city?

Kew Road Signage (2)

  • Reference: 2008/0180
  • Question by: Tony Arbour
  • Meeting date: 30 January 2008
Does the Mayor accept that congestion on Kew Bridge may well be exacerbated by signage that directs motorway users to travel through Kew to reach the M4 from the M3 rather than use the M25?

Kew Road Signage (1)

  • Reference: 2008/0179
  • Question by: Tony Arbour
  • Meeting date: 30 January 2008
In a response to a recent e-mail from my office, regarding the possibility of changing the signage on the M3 to direct road users to use the M25 to reach the M4 rather than driving through Kew, TfL informed me that their road signs would always direct vehicles to take the shortest route. Does the Mayor accept that this principle may well create increased levels of pollution as lorries leave motorways in order to take a more direct route through a residential area with traffic lights, road humps and other traffic calming measures?

Mill Hill East

  • Reference: 2008/0178
  • Question by: Geoff Pope
  • Meeting date: 30 January 2008
How much additional demand at Mill Hill East does TfL anticipate will be generated by the Mill Hill East Regeneration Project? What will be the expected impact of this on the rest of the Northern Line service, given its current levels of overcrowding?

Number 31 bus route

  • Reference: 2008/0177
  • Question by: Geoff Pope
  • Meeting date: 30 January 2008
What steps is TfL taking to improve the frequency and reliability of the 31 bus service, given its importance as the only direct public transport link between Camden Town and Kilburn, and between the Northern and Jubilee lines north of Waterloo?
