TfL is currently working together with London Boroughs to develop a new approach to tackle poorly parked bikes causing access or safety issues. This includes more parking bays for e-scooters and e-bikes. However, it seems the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) is opposed to this principle as they are actively objecting to new parking bays for e-scooters in consultations organised by local boroughs. The Met Police are objecting on safety reasons and as it would place an unrealistic demand on the MPS for enforcement. In March it will be 2 years since the Baroness Casey Report was published with its recommendations. It highlighted a bullying culture where racist, misogynist, homophobic and other discriminatory acts were dismissed as ‘banter’. What progress has been made to ensure women, people who identify as LGBTQ+ and those that have an ethnic minority background feel welcome in the London Police Service?
