Question and Answer Session: Housing in London (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: Sem Moema
  • Meeting date: 07 December 2023
Andrew Boff AM (Chair): Thank you. Next to Assembly Member Moema please. Sem Moema AM: Thank you. Good afternoon, panel. My question is to Deputy Mayor Copley. London Councils estimates that each month boroughs are spending upwards of £60 million on TA. In fact, we heard from them at Housing Committee a short while ago and I am sure you have seen the reports of one example of this, a school in Peckham where 80 per cent of the pupils there are living in TA and are therefore homeless. Therefore, I want to know what we can do to ensure...

The first question to be asked is in the name of Assembly Member Berry. Siân Berry AM: Thank you very much, Chair. Thank you very much, Deputy Mayor, for that summary of the many crises we face. We have tabled some written questions today from our Group, and we do discuss things regularly as well. I do have some questions for you today, but they are quite factual and short, you...

Panel 2: Question and Answer Session: Functional Bodies - Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC) (Supplementary) [5]

  • Question by: Zack Polanski
  • Meeting date: 07 March 2024
Andrew Boff AM (Chair): Assembly Member Polanski, please? Zack Polanski AM: Thank you, Chair. Good afternoon, David. I want to ask about the London Living Wage on projects that the OPDC has involvement in. If I look at the LLDC corporate report - and we had them on the panel earlier - they have made several commitments on the London Living Wage, but I cannot see the same commitments from the OPDC. Would you commit to ensuring that all people employed on contracts with the OPDC or that it has any influence on will pay the London Living Wage?

  • Question by: Krupesh Hirani
  • Meeting date: 07 March 2024
Andrew Boff AM (Chair): Thank you. Assembly Member Hirani, please? Krupesh Hirani AM: Thank you, Chair. David, I understand the OPDC is working with TfL, HS2 and the Government to plan for local transport improvements including at Willesden Junction Station and North Acton that will help ease the potential congestion issues at Old Oak Common, which are caused by the Government decision to terminate HS2 services there. Can you update us on any of those discussions or that work?

  • Question by: Siân Berry
  • Meeting date: 07 March 2024
Andrew Boff AM (Chair): Thank you. The next person to ask a question is Assembly Member Berry, please? Siân Berry AM: Thank you very much. Hi, David. Nice to see you today. I am very keen to make sure that we get some really good community-focused, outdoor space-focused, maybe even some fun meanwhile uses of any land that you are currently making plans for but also any that is now in any kind of holding pattern because of the HS2 changes. I had a look at your recent CEO progress report and there you seemed to be suggesting that the...

Andrew Boff AM (Chair): The Conservative Group is now out of time. The next question is in the name of Dr Sahota? Dr Onkar Sahota AM (Deputy Chair): Thank you, Chair. One of the challenges you have is the land assembly on the site because, unlike the Olympic Park, you did not own any of the land. How successful have you been in putting together land assembly?

Panel 2: Question and Answer Session: Functional Bodies - Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC) (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Neil Garratt
  • Meeting date: 07 March 2024
Andrew Boff AM (Chair): Thank you. I will now take questions from Members. Each Group has a remaining amount of time for these two sessions to ask questions. The first question to be asked is from Assembly Member Garratt, please. Neil Garratt AM: Afternoon. It is a shame we were not told about the time pressures because our meeting is taking as long as it would have taken on the clock, and we perhaps could have swapped the two sessions over if we had had some warning. Anyway, that is water under the bridge. My question, I suppose, is about...

Joining us in the Chamber we have David Lunts, who is the Chief Executive of the OPDC. Welcome. There will be a lead-off question from myself as Chair to him and Assembly Members may then put supplementary questions. Please could I ask Assembly Members to be brief with their questions?
