In its June 2021 progress report and recommendations to Parliament, the Climate Change Committee has added a new recommendation to the Department for Transport, saying: “Decisions on investment in roads should be contingent on analysis justifying how they contribute to the UK’s pathway to Net Zero. This analysis should demonstrate that the proposals would not lead to increases in overall emissions.” Will you take note of this advice and pause and review the Silvertown Road Tunnel project? And if not, why not?
