Alessandro Georgiou AM: Thank you, Chair. Mr Mayor, recently your Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime visited Labour-run Enfield and over the last year there has been a 35 per cent increase in theft, 119 per cent increase in shoplifting, a 39 per cent increase in drug supply offences, a 21 per cent increase in gun crime, and a 60 per cent increase in theft of mobile phones in Enfield. Given the woeful Government settlement for the MPS this year, which of these numbers are you most proud of?

Thomas Turrell AM: Thank you Chair. Good morning, Mr Mayor. I just want to pick up on a previous exchange we had about the William Barefoot Drive Police Base that sits on the border of my and Assembly Member Duvall’s constituency. Following that exchange, I presented a petition [to the 7 November 2024 London Assembly Plenary meeting] from two local councillors in the area, signed by over 1,600 people, calling for the Base to be saved from closure, and last week those councillors were told that the Base would now be remaining open, which is great news.
