But why are we paying him so much? It is because you bought him out, is it not?

I think your present Commissioner is doing a much better job than your last Commissioner, and I think you have made a very good choice there, but I still want to know, if you think so much about Bob Kiley, why did you let him go? Tell us about the strife there was within TfL.

You told this Assembly you were going to pay him £3,000 a day. Surely you have not got a clue how much you should be paying unless you know how many days he has worked.

Now, that is not quite accurate, is it? There was a lot of trouble and strife within the operationals of TfL about Bob Kiley. Frankly, you have contributed the success, or otherwise, of the buses, etc, in London, but that is down to the present Commissioner. So why did you not retain him? If he is so essential to you, why have you not retained him?

Mr Mayor, to your credit, you have been very loyal this morning to Bob Kiley. Now, tell me, if you think so much about him and thought so much about him at that time, why did you replace him?

Good. However, his time expires in June 2008. Unless you are securing his services through, is that the right horse to be backing?

So the point is, the advantage of going down this road is that we have got government assistance as well on this.
