After the recent fatal bus crashes at Walthamstow and Victoria stations, bus drivers have contacted me expressing their concerns about unsafe driving practices which they have observed at the TfL bus garages and depots including, but not limited to, untrained staff (a) driving buses dangerously around the depot (b) parking buses on designated walkways which force bus drivers to walk in dangerous areas to get to their buses. Under driving offences in the Taxi & PH Driver Policy, the document states, ‘The Mayor’s Transport Strategy commits to delivering a ‘Vision Zero’ approach in London to make its streets safer for all by reducing deaths and serious injuries on London’s roads’.
