How will the Mayor’s London Plan deliver for London?

The Mayor’s London Plan sets out his vision for how London will develop in the coming years – affecting the capital’s homes, environment, economic development and transport network.

In May, a consultation opened with the publication of ‘Towards a New London Plan’.1 Proposals include releasing parts of London’s Green Belt to build new homes, and measures to support flexible approaches to developing town centres and high streets.

On Monday, the London Assembly Planning and Regeneration Committee will ask experts, Borough representatives and Greater London Authority (GLA) officers responsible for the Plan about the Mayor’s proposals, to inform the Committee’s response to the consultation.

The guests are:

Panel 1:

  • Sarah Bevan, Director, Planning & Development, BusinessLDN
  • Rob Anderson, Research Director at the Centre for London
  • Lisa Fairmaner, Head of London Plan and Strategic Planning, GLA
  • Celeste Giusi, Team Leader Strategic Planning, GLA

Panel 2:

  • Alice Roberts, Head of Campaigns, Campaign to Protect Rural England
  • Ergin Erbil, Leader of the Council, Enfield Council
  • Ben Twomey, Chief Executive, Generation Rent
  • James Stevens, Director for Cities, Home Builders Federation
  • Jules Pipe CBE, Deputy Mayor for Planning, Regeneration and the Fire Service

The meeting will take place on Monday 9 June at 2pm in the Chamber at City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, E16 1ZE.

Media and members of the public are invited to attend.

The meeting can also be viewed LIVE or later via webcast or YouTube.
