Full question: we struggle turning away those [learners] who have a Level two previously (so we accommodate those when we reach minimum numbers). Can we fund those learners with Level two via AEB, as they have undertaken learning. The argument is that by funding some of the same teaching by AEB, it could look like we’re duplicating the provision, making it non-fundable for Multiply. However, it is for a different level of learner, so it may not be duplicating it. What are your thoughts on this?
Multiply funding should not displace, replace or duplicate AEB funding. Where there are planned AEB courses, these should not be converted in Multiply courses. A provider may have a range of maths/numeracy/number courses which are either planned for AEB or Multiply delivery and each learner should be signposted to the appropriate course.
