Is London getting any greener?

Supporting the environment
Created on
27 February 2019

The Mayor has called a climate emergency for London - following a London Assembly motion asking him to do so - in the face of catastrophic predictions about the impact of global warming.

Meanwhile, the launch of the Ultra Low Emission Zone is only weeks away – a dramatic move to combat London’s toxic air.

Against this backdrop, the London Assembly Environment Committee will tomorrow question the Deputy Mayor for Environment and Energy about progress in meeting the Mayor’s green goals.

The discussion will cover:

  • Waste
  • Zero carbon city
  • Air pollution and risks from exiting the EU
  • Green infrastructure

The following guests will attend:

  • Shirley Rodrigues, Deputy Mayor for Environment and Energy
  • Andrew Dunwoody, Policy and Programme Manager – waste and the green economy
  • Abby Crisostomo, Policy and Programme Manager – climate adaptation and sustainable development
  • Elliot Treharne, Policy and Programme Manager – air quality
  • Andrew Jones, Policy and Programme Manager – green infrastructure
  • Claire Jamieson, Principal Policy and Programme Officer – Zero Carbon Policy Team

The meeting will take place on Thursday 28 February at 10.00am in the Chamber, at City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).

Media and members of the public are invited to attend.

The meeting can also be viewed via webcast on our YouTube channel.
