Housing legacy of the Olympics

In view of the planned legacy of the Olympic 2012 project as far as housing is concerned, can the Mayor ensure that in addition to providing affordable housing for the residents of East London there will also be provision made for homes for retired people, whose needs are different?

Local Sporting Communities Representation on the LPGSF

In last year's playing fields report, the Environment Committee recommended that the local sporting community should be represented on the London Parks and Green Spaces Forum (LPGSF)? We argued that this would form the best defence against the loss pf playing fields. Are local sporting communities now represented on the (LPGSF). If not, will you use your influence to ensure that the voice of local community is being heard on this forum?

Social Care damping

Do you share my concerns about the effect of the proposals to remove social care damping from formula grant distribution arrangements? Particularly because of its adverse effect on funding for social care in Inner London boroughs which have rapid population growth but which under the new formula stand to receive less funding because of their demographic and age profiles being significantly different from national trends and because of the loss of the 'children in flats' indicator which clearly discriminates against inner urban areas where there is little choice but to put needy families in flatted accommodation and where this is...

Gracechurch Street

Congestion on Gracechurch Street and Bishopsgate is causing significant delays to bus journeys though the City. Will Transport for London consider either closing these roads to all traffic except buses, or introducing bus lanes?

East London Line

Residents on Cold Blow Lane, New Cross have complained that a row of mature trees that screened them from the noise/dust/visual impact of East London Line trains have been felled by Network Rail without any effective consultation. Can you ensure that suitable tree replanting takes place? Can you also ensure that any future plans by Transport for London to fell trees along railway track are done with proper consultation with residents?

Diving facilities

Are you aware that currently 1/3 of London's remaining diving facilities, including Crystal Palace, are only available for private club use or paid for lessons, and not for recreational use? What guarantees can the Mayor give that pressure will be put on those running all facilities, including the new Olympic Aquatics centre, to ensure that they will be available for recreational use by members of the public and not just for additional cost lessons or elite development training?
