Upgrade of Ealing Broadway Station

Now that we have confirmation that the Crossrail One project is going ahead, will you increase the priority of interchange planning work at this station? In particular: a) will you press for an integrated bus station to be provided on site as part of current property development plans? b) will you ensure that Ealing Broadway Station is upgraded so that passengers can enjoy 21st century standards of access, comfort, space and facilities as soon as practical, and can you tell me when this is estimated to be?

You first gave your backing to the Oxford Street tram proposal in August 2006. In your Answer to my Question 2301 / 2007 you announced that "the Oxford Street Transit feasibility study will begin in November 2007". By what date does TfL plan to complete this study?

The Assembly has over the last 7 years regularly drawn to your attention the poor arrangements that exist with regard to the distribution of the Londoner. Why have you now approved an expenditure of £50,000 to ICM to "evaluate the effectiveness of different channels used to distribute the Londoner", when you are at the same time spending an additional £60,000 for cover "costs associated with boosting Royal Mail distribution" (MA3205)? If you and your officers have already identified the problem, what is the purpose of the research?

As you state in your latest report, the strength of the West End's retail sales "tell their own story". Given the strong performance over the last two years of the retail economy in the West End is it now not time to progress the plans for pedestrianising Oxford Street which we first advanced to you almost 4 years ago?
