Harlesden Town Centre

  • Reference: 2012/2172
  • Question by: Navin Shah
  • Meeting date: 04 July 2012
TfL are funding a new traffic scheme in Harlesden. This will result in an increase of lorries down residential roads as a) the weight restriction on the Mitre Bridge in Scrubs Lane means lorries have to travel through Harlesden, b) the option chosen by the Council has made a section of the High Street for pedestrians, buses and bicycles. Do you think it acceptable for lorries to be routed this way and do you think this proposal is viable?

Chiltern Services to Sudbury Stations

  • Reference: 2012/2171
  • Question by: Navin Shah
  • Meeting date: 04 July 2012
Suburban rail services on the Chiltern line out of Marylebone are among the least frequent in London, and Sudbury & Harrow Road in my constituency is the worst-served station in the whole of London with just nine trains daily, Monday-Friday only. Suburban users have not benefited at all from the recent route upgrade, and TfL's suggestions for service improvements in the December timetable change have all been rejected. What will you do to try and improve this unacceptable situation, including opening discussions with Chiltern about possible TfL funding assistance?

New research has said landlords are more likely to evict tenants or not renew tenancy agreements than landlords in other parts of the country as a result of housing benefit changes. You have been vocal about people moving out of London because of these changes but how do you suggest landlords can be convinced to lower rents?
