London has the highest number of reported forced marriage incidences. The issue of forced marriages often arises within the context of forced marriages between first cousins. Changes to Landfill tax

  • Reference: 2012/2199
  • Question by: Murad Qureshi
  • Meeting date: 04 July 2012
Due to the fact that last month (24th May) Parliament Square had over 50 skip lorries protesting against imposed changes to Landfill Tax and the dire consequences to these business and the building & construction industry. Are you aware of the potential impact this could now have on London and the upcoming Olympics? As a consequence of this tax hike, waste businesses could well become insolvent, leaving skips on London's streets and rubbish uncleared.
