Question and Answer Session, Transport for London (Supplementary) [22]

  • Question by: Caroline Russell
  • Meeting date: 05 September 2024
Andrew Boff AM (Chair): Thank you. Assembly Member Russell, please. Caroline Russell AM: Thank you, Chair. Just very briefly, I would like to ask for an update on the publication of the results of the toilet feasibility study. Toilet campaigners keep asking me when it is coming. We were told last time when I asked that it was due this summer. Originally it was due by June 2023. That is over a year of Londoners crossing our legs. What have you got for us?

Question and Answer Session, Transport for London (Supplementary) [21]

  • Question by: Len Duvall OBE
  • Meeting date: 05 September 2024
Andrew Boff AM (Chair): Thank you, Assembly Member Duvall, please. Len Duvall AM (Deputy Chair): Thank you very much. Can I just go back in terms of the buses in outer London? In some of your answers, I was surprised not to hear about area bus plans and their role in terms of future expansion and reviews. Rather than an ad hoc way of doing it - and we are looking at area bus plans around where you are introducing Superloops - is it not the case now that we should be looking at a more comprehensive review of different...

Question and Answer Session, Transport for London (Supplementary) [20]

  • Question by: Emma Best
  • Meeting date: 05 September 2024
Andrew Boff AM (Chair): Thank you. Assembly Member Best, please. Emma Best AM: Thank you. I was really disappointed to receive a response to the motion on saving Waltham Abbey buses saying that TfL would not be doing anything further to extend those routes. Beyond the orbital routes extending into areas like Essex is something that is the only barrier that we need to bring down to get people out of cars. Until we have routes out of London into Essex, that is not going to happen. Can I ask you to work further on those plans? This is really...

Question and Answer Session, Transport for London (Supplementary) [19]

  • Question by: Leonie Cooper
  • Meeting date: 05 September 2024
Andrew Boff AM (Chair): That was a flourish. Assembly Member Cooper, please. Léonie Cooper AM: Good morning, Commissioner. I have some questions for you, also about housing. I wondered if you could give us an update on what progress has been made on the Places for London aim to start building 20,000 homes by 2031?

Question and Answer Session, Transport for London (Supplementary) [18]

  • Question by: Alessandro Georgiou
  • Meeting date: 05 September 2024
Andrew Boff AM (Chair): Thank you very much. Assembly Member Georgiou, please. Alessandro Georgiou AM: Thank you, Mr Chair. Mr Mayor, I will be asking you a few questions on Cockfosters Station carpark. I appreciate that you vehemently supported the scheme, and I vehemently opposed it and so we should not waste colleagues’ time by getting into the pros and cons of the scheme itself. Against the wishes of the vast majority of local residents, the Government has decided to allow TfL to build over Cockfosters Station Tube carpark. Can you please confirm whether you or any of your staff...

Question and Answer Session, Transport for London (Supplementary) [17]

  • Question by: Anne Clarke
  • Meeting date: 05 September 2024
Andrew Boff AM (Chair): Thank you. Assembly Member Clarke, please. Anne Clarke AM: Thank you, Chair. In March 2024, you unveiled the Transport Hate Crime Taskforce. Could you just give us an update on that and what you hope the taskforce will achieve?

Question and Answer Session, Transport for London (Supplementary) [16]

  • Question by: Neil Garratt
  • Meeting date: 05 September 2024
Andrew Boff AM (Chair): Thank you. Assembly Member Garratt, please. Neil Garratt AM: Hello, Commissioner. I would like to reprise our conversation about bus safety, if I may. Firstly, I would like to acknowledge the apology that TfL issued earlier in the week about the misinformation that had been circulated about Melissa Burr [victim of fatal bus accident] and acknowledging now, correctly, that she had done nothing wrong and was in the correct place on the crossing at Victoria. In your most recent Commissioner’s report to the TfL Board, you reflected on the changes that have been made subsequently at...

Question and Answer Session, Transport for London (Supplementary) [15]

  • Question by: James Small-Edwards
  • Meeting date: 05 September 2024
Andrew Boff AM (Chair): Thank you. Assembly Member Small-Edwards, please. James Small-Edwards AM: Thank you, Chair. Good morning, Mr Mayor. Good morning, Commissioner. My question is to the Mayor. Given the National Infrastructure Commission said in May [2024] that an annual settlement is a sticking plaster and will not be sufficient to enhance London’s world-class public transport network, how are you working with the new Government to secure a multiyear capital deal for TfL?

Question and Answer Session, Transport for London (Supplementary) [14]

  • Question by: Alex Wilson
  • Meeting date: 05 September 2024
Andrew Boff AM (Chair): Thank you. Assembly Member Wilson, please. Alex Wilson AM: Thank you, Chair. My question will be to you, Mr Mayor, and it follows on from the question that Assembly Member Turrell has already raised. It will not surprise you. If you have seen the agenda for the rest of the meeting, you will be aware I am presenting a petition later on, which now has almost 4,000 signatures opposing the proposed charges for the Blackwall and Silvertown Tunnels, and most [Assembly] Members will also be aware there is another much larger petition currently in circulation and...
