Free speech protestor Hamit Coskun is in hiding and in fear of his life after being arrested, prosecuted and convicted under Public Order Act legislation. Lord Young of Acton, founder of the Free Speech Union, wrote in early June to Sir Mark Rowley and stated: “We consider that the risk to Mr Coskun’s life was caused, in part, by the actions of your officers… Your force had repeatedly suggested publicly that Mr Coskun had offended the ‘religious institution of Islam’.
