What was the purpose of your campaign to promote EU ‘associate citizenship’ considering it is clearly illegal and impossible to implement within the EU’s ‘acquis’, not least under Article 20 TFEU which states that EU citizenship is only obtainable via being a citizen of a Member State?

Any extension to the transition period would push the UK into the EU’s next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) for 2021-2027, the financial implications of which are unknown since the EU has failed to reach an agreement. Given this financial uncertainty and potential huge cost to the UK taxpayer, why are you continuing to push for an extension to the period?
