In response to Question 2021/0559 you stated, “Unfortunately, the compilation of this [Quarterly Bus Safety] data has historically been a resource-intensive task, but TfL is examining ways in which the process can be simplified, while retaining the appropriate level of detail. During the 28 September BBC Radio 4 broadcast “Occupational Hazard: The bus drivers who died from Covid”, after being told by File on 4 that bus drivers were taken to work in ferry cars with their colleagues, public health expert Professor John Ashton stated, “This is a recipe for spread of the virus in those groups…shocking and in my view completely negligent’. Given that you admitted in response to Question 2021/0544 that TfL didn’t hold its bus operators’ Covid-19 risk assessments for ferry driving, do you agree with Professor Ashton’s assessment?

On 28 September, BBC Radio 4 broadcast “Occupational Hazard: The bus drivers who died from Covid”, which featured interviews with former TfL Board Member and Safety Panel Chair Michael Liebreich, bus driver Kevin Mustafa and public health expert John Ashton, each stating that TfL and its bus contractors are largely to blame for the high fatality rate of bus drivers from Covid-19 which the UCL Institute of Health Equity reports continued long after the March 2020 lockdown.
