  • Meeting date: 15 December 2022
In November, your press office told a journalist at Archant newspapers that you would not comment on an employment tribunal ruling, which had found there was a culture of racist bullying at London Overground's HQ run by Arriva Rail London, as they allegedly believed it was not your responsibility. The journalist had asked if you would condemn the racist bullying. At Mayor's Question Time on 17 November, when you were informed of this, you condemned any racist bullying. Was the decision to initially not comment approved by yourself, one of your deputy mayors, your chief of staff, your deputy chief...

Further to your unhelpful response to 2022/1636, when will TfL provide me with a copy of its ‘first ever’ research on remote sign-on?

Follow-Up Independent Study of Bus Driver Deaths from Covid-19

  • Reference: 2022/5375
  • Question by: Keith Prince
  • Meeting date: 15 December 2022
Doesn't your admission in question 2022/2692 that TfL was providing PPE (masks and gloves) to its Dial-A-Ride drivers on the same day it was telling Unite the Union that PPE was “not needed” demand the kind of follow-up Independent Study of Bus Driver Deaths from Covid-19 that I've requested in questions 2022/2691 and 2022/0151, but which you have rejected to date?

Answers on Lobbying for Masks

  • Meeting date: 15 December 2022
Does your admission in your answer to question 2022/2692 that TfL was providing PPE (masks and gloves) to its Dial-A-Ride drivers on the same day it was telling Unite the Union that PPE was “not needed” prove that your responses to questions 2022/1213, 2022/1212, 2022/1211, 2022/0793, 2022/0793, and 2022/0789 suggest an intent to mislead?

TfL Making Masks Mandatory for Dial-A-Ride Bus Drivers on 9 April 2020 while instructing Unite the Union “latest guidance from TfL is masks not needed” for London Bus Drivers (2)

  • Meeting date: 15 December 2022
Since, as you’ve already admitted in your responses to questions 2021/0121, 2021/3881 and 2021/4507 that “Transport for London (TfL) does not require the bus operating companies to share copies of their risk assessments covering activities within their garage environments. This includes any that were created or updated as a result of Covid-19”, how could you instruct Unite the Union that PPE was “not needed” for its bus driver members when TfL had already made it a requirement for its own 256 bus drivers and 60 van drivers?

TfL Making Masks Mandatory for Dial-A-Ride Bus Drivers on 9 April 2020 while instructing Unite the Union “latest guidance from TfL is masks not needed” for London Bus Drivers (1)

In your response to question 2022/1630, you stated TfL combines the Covid-19 deaths of Dial-A-Ride drivers and bus drivers together “as they undertook a similar role”. How can you reconcile the evidence shown in your response to: (a) question 2022/2692 which shows TfL issuing PPE (masks and gloves) on 9 April 2020 to the drivers of Dial-A-Ride’s 256 buses and 60 vans; and (b) FOI-1586-2021 when, on the same date, TfL instructed Unite the Union that “Latest guidance from TfL is masks not needed”?
