The first of the new Piccadilly line trains will become operational in 2025. The Piccadilly line will operate a mix of old and new trains until all 94 of the new trains enter service by 2027. It has been reported that because the new trains are longer, platform edges at some stations will need to be “shaved” to accommodate the new trains. This will lead to a bigger gap for passengers getting on or off the old trains.
