Mitigating the Games-time Environmental Impact (Supplementary) [4]

  • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
  • Meeting date: 10 November 2007
OK. Perhaps this next question is to LOCOG. Have you clarified what your expectations are in terms of what the broad percentage targets will be for the management of the waste on the site? How much is going to be incinerated? How much is going to be recycled? Have you got any ideas at all and will that be in the planning?

Mitigating the Games-time Environmental Impact (Supplementary) [3]

  • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
  • Meeting date: 10 November 2007
When our colleagues from the ODA came to the Assembly's Environment Committee - and we did ask you at that point about the Waste Management Plan;, when would we see it, what broadly it would look like - you were very clear at that point that this was very much a LOCOG responsibility. I have just listened to your reply to Jenny's [Jones] question about the legacy and I am a bit concerned, and I think you should be reassuring us, because I think all of our experience as politicians in London tells us that it is often the design...

Mitigating the Games-time Environmental Impact (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: Mike Tuffrey
  • Meeting date: 10 November 2007
Can I go back to the sustainability announcement that was alluded to earlier and is presumably what you were just referring to, Seb. What is that? Is that further commitments or is that the reality behind the commitments that have already been given? That is the first question. Then in terms of the scope of it, you have said it was kind of biodiversity and so forth, but is it sustainability in an economic, social and environmental sense or is it essentially still environmental-related commitments?

  • Question by: Murad Qureshi
  • Meeting date: 10 November 2007
I do not think you were at the ODA at the time, but the last time the ODA representatives came to the Assembly's Environment Committee we were promised a sustainability plan across the whole of the Olympic family would be out soon. That is really what I want to hear about. When is that coming out, if ever? What are the main features?

Skills Legacy (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Dee Doocey
  • Meeting date: 10 November 2007
My concern is the real deprived communities; the ones that are just not being picked up because nobody knows who they are. The more visits I do the more convinced I become that what is on offer is not really going to help these people and those are the people that we all want to help more than anyone. I wondered if you would consider a couple of things. First of all I really identified a need for some pan-London funding where at the moment you are giving it to boroughs to dish out, which I understand, but there is...

Procurement Polices and Local businesses (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Elizabeth Howlett
  • Meeting date: 10 November 2007
Can I just ask how many London-based businesses have successfully won Olympic contracts to date?

Legacy Master plan for the Olympic Park (Supplementary) [11]

  • Question by: Richard Barnes
  • Meeting date: 10 November 2007
Yes, just very briefly, my question is to Manny [Lewis] and it is a follow-up on the delivering of skills and employment legacy. Will the Boost programme, which is concentrated in the five Olympic boroughs, be rolled out across London, or is that a solely East End project?

Legacy Master plan for the Olympic Park (Supplementary) [10]

  • Question by: Murad Qureshi
  • Meeting date: 10 November 2007
Just thinking beyond the Olympics and who actually manages the Olympic Park, I think that is very critical for the legacy for a number of reasons. It will have state of the art sporting facilities, a park, waterways and I do hope it will still be democratically responsive to Londoners. I wondered if you have got any views from all three organisations, given that our colleagues from the local authorities have already expressed their views to some extent when I last raised this issue when they were here?

Legacy Master plan for the Olympic Park (Supplementary) [9]

  • Question by: Dee Doocey
  • Meeting date: 10 November 2007
The first question is to David Higgins. The Legacy Masterplan sets out the provisions for the Velodrome and cycling in general and we both know that both British Cycling and the user groups are not happy with this, and in fact are challenging it. I just wondered if you could perhaps update us on where you are with trying to find a way through this and trying to get an agreement that is acceptable to British Cycling and to the user groups. That is the first question. .

Legacy Master plan for the Olympic Park (Supplementary) [8]

  • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
  • Meeting date: 10 November 2007
Lastly, can I just thank Sebastian [Coe] for his visit to my constituency and they were well received as he knows, but what he has left behind is big questions about when our young people going to be able to wear the 2012 badge like yourself and other city members! It seems a little bit odd, doesn't it? We talk about legacy in bricks and mortars and yet there is just the privileged few who are wandering around in their badges! I mean how is this? I have to say I gave my badge away when I got it at...
