Underground Planning (Supplementary) [3]

  • Question by: Bob Blackman
  • Meeting date: 21 February 2007
Finally, you mentioned the row about the Princess Diana memorial concert. Is that now resolved?

Underground Planning (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: Bob Blackman
  • Meeting date: 21 February 2007
In terms of the Emirates Stadium, the capacity has doubled. What improvements have been made to the local stations like Highbury and Islington and Arsenal?

Underground Planning (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
  • Meeting date: 21 February 2007
I think that where Ken and his people need to move to, is to put pressure on the train operating companies of the over rails. For instance, Drayton Park Station, you knowwe have been waiting now for the results of the feasibility, some work to be done there, because there is absolutely no reason why Drayton Manor Park should not be brought into the service and midweek trains added to that. Certainly it is absolutely astonishing that we have 80,000 people in that locality and that over rail station is closed on a Saturday. So I think that is where...

Management of London Underground (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: Geoff Pope
  • Meeting date: 21 February 2007
Are these 3,000 annual reviews all completed on schedule do you know?

Management of London Underground (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Geoff Pope
  • Meeting date: 21 February 2007
Are you not concerned that we are having incidents where London Underground is found to be at fault? And what is your feeling about the extraordinary review of Metronet's projected £750 million claim for cost overruns? And how much do you think Metronet is going to be owed by London Underground?

Safer Transport Teams (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: Graham Tope
  • Meeting date: 21 February 2007
Thank you, Mr Mayor. That is what we were told originally and it was very welcome. I was very surprised therefore that we were told at the Coordination Completion Committee at the MPA (Metropolitan Police Authority) on 1 February this month, quite specifically - and I clarified this both at the meeting and subsequently by email - that the Transport PCSOs [Police Community Support Officers] will not routinely be allowed beyond the barrier either on overground or, even more surprisingly, underground rail, because they have not received BTP's (British Transport Police) trackside training. That was made very clear two weeks...

Safer Transport Teams (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Bob Neill
  • Meeting date: 21 February 2007
Can I say I very much agree with what Graham Tope has said. My concern is the same as his; that we need absolute clarity on this. For those of us in outer London, as you know, this is our tube, in effect. A recent experience highlighted my concern. A constituent's son and a number of other youngsters were assaulted and mugged on the Hayes line. It was impossible to get British Transport Police to respond in an adequate time because there simply are not enough of them. It is desperately important, I am sure you will agree, that we...

Outer London public transport (Supplementary) [6]

  • Question by: Geoff Pope
  • Meeting date: 21 February 2007
The other issue is about more long distance journeys coming into London and the lack of park and ride car parks. Where the M25 crosses rail lines it would be possible to develop more park and ride facilities along the lines that you recently backed when we questioned you about the Olympic park and ride facilities being retained.

Outer London public transport (Supplementary) [5]

  • Question by: Geoff Pope
  • Meeting date: 21 February 2007
So we do have targets of 17% carbon emission reductions in outer London, and you have got your LEZ (Low Emission Zone) Scheme for heavy goods vehicles, but will that be sufficient to achieve any significant contribution to the 17%?

Outer London public transport (Supplementary) [4]

  • Question by: Graham Tope
  • Meeting date: 21 February 2007
Can we not explore bringing back more comfortable express buses similar to the Green Line system we used to have?
