Streatham Hill Cycle Scheme (3)

  • Reference: 2025/1367
  • Question by: Emma Best
  • Meeting date: 22 May 2025
If the ‘Streatham Hill Scheme’ is implemented it will create new barriers to accessing local bus services, with many blind, deafblind and partially sighted disabled people with protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010, no longer able to independently use their local bus services. Do you recognise that Transport for London should not be implementing schemes that break these fundamental human rights to accessibility?

  • Reference: 2025/1366
  • Question by: Emma Best
  • Meeting date: 22 May 2025
The consultation for the ‘Streatham Hill Scheme’ took place in 2020, just before and during COVID. Do you recognise that this timing was far from optimal and might explain why a great many people who will be impacted were unaware of the consultation or the scheme until relatively recently?

Streatham Hill Cycle Scheme (1)

  • Reference: 2025/1365
  • Question by: Emma Best
  • Meeting date: 22 May 2025
TfL’s 'Streatham Hill Scheme’ will see the construction of two-way and one-way cycle lanes routed between bus stops and the pavement. As has been raised previously, by both Assembly Members and the National Federation of the Blind UK (NFBUK), this approach causes serious concern for blind, deafblind and partially sighted people and damages their ability to independently access their local bus services. Given this, will you urgently halt and withdraw this scheme?

  • Question by: Emma Best
  • Meeting date: 22 May 2025
Broken down by borough, how many vehicles have been detected exceeding a set sound limit each month since ‘sound cameras’ were introduced to London’s streets?
