I understand that last year, the Met created the ‘Enhanced Retention Scheme’ which would allow officers who would have ordinarily retired, to then re-join the Police after retirement. This was so they could retain officers in specialist posts, so that experience and skills were not lost whilst struggling to recruit new officers and retain officers with less service. This scheme now seems to have closed. Given that the Met Police Service has been ‘haemorrhaging’ officers in the last few years, why was this scheme closed so quickly?

The average speed of a bus in London fell to 9.3 mph in 2022-23. In period 9 (November-December 2023) they fell to 9.0 mph, the lowest figure since comprehensive speed monitoring began in 2013-14. What is TfL’s analysis of the causes of deteriorating traffic conditions across London and what does it plan to do to address the deterioration in conditions for the bus network?
