You are loved and wanted in London

Loved and Wanted campaign mural

Loved and Wanted is a campaign from the Mayor of London that reaffirms to Londoners that no matter who you are or where you’re from – you are loved and wanted in our city.

We are living in uncertain and unsettling times. But we know that in London communities continue to rally together and support each other.

In London, you are free to be who you want to be. It is Londoners who make our city the uniquely vibrant city it is.

We come from all over the world, from every religious background, and every walk of life. Loved and Wanted celebrates our city’s enduring spirit of respect, unity and togetherness.

It is part of the Mayor’s work to strengthen connections between London’s communities and celebrate diversity.

The campaign has so far been backed by almost £2 million of funding for councils and community organisations across the city.

Building on values of inclusivity and empowering communities, we’ve invested £1.8 million alongside The National Lottery Community Fund to create a network of community spaces where Londoners can connect, get support and take part in their local community.

We all make London the city it is today.
And we want to celebrate that.

Supporting London's frontline workers

The Mayor of London has called on Londoners and visitors to support the capital’s hard working frontline workers, in the wake of significant increases in abuse reported against our transport, NHS and retail workers.

As part of his Loved and Wanted campaign, the Mayor is sending messages of support to workers across the capital to honour everything they do for London and reiterates that we will never tolerate such abuse.

This includes a tribute to London’s frontline workers ‘The Vital Threads that Hold and Protect’ by author and poet David Larbi. Excerpts from this poem will be shown across the city, but you can read it in full, below.

To all of London’s frontline workers, we celebrate the key role you do in keeping the capital running – you are Loved and Wanted.

The Vital Threads that Hold and Protect

by David Larbi

To be someone who works for this city
Is an act that is greater than self
It takes care of all living within it
Of their hope, their hearts and their health

This fact should be always reflected
In our gratitude and in our grace
In the respect that each worker is given
When the public greet them in each day

They are tending to our bodies and minds
In education and in healthcare
Transport workers, delivery drivers
Emergency services, planning, repairs

All the individual care it takes
For this bustling city to function
Is beyond what many realise
Without their work, there is no London

To those who feed, who care for, who teach
Who power, uphold and protect
Thank you for being our fabric, our strength
For showing up each day and the next

“Every Londoner deserves to feel loved, wanted, and valued.”
