Mayor's Community Weekend 2025
The National Lottery Community Fund and the Mayor of London are delighted to announce the return of the Mayor’s Community Weekend to London in September 2025.
Taking place over the weekend of Friday 12 September to Sunday 14 September 2025, Londoners and communities are once again invited to come together and celebrate our city.
Communities and voluntary groups were offered the chance to apply for between £500 and £2,000 from The National Lottery Community Fund to run events or activities that celebrate and support building strong community relationships.
184 organisations participated in the Mayor’s Community Weekend 2023 with a total of £250,000 awarded. This year, we are fortunate to have an even larger funding pool to invest in communities throughout the weekend, supporting approximately the same number of organisations.

Mayor's Community Weekend 2023: Case studies
Read about some of the successful grantees from the Mayor’s Community Weekend 2023.
Chabad Lubavitch of Islington is the only Jewish community centre in Islington, offering a safe and welcoming space for Jews in the borough to connect and thrive via Shabbat dinners, holiday events, mum and baby sessions, an art gallery and one-on-one pastoral care. The community space is open regularly for local school groups to learn about Jewish life and culture.
During the Mayor’s Community Weekend 2023, we organised the Big Jewish Summer Fete, a fun, free celebration of Jewish culture and community open to everyone, of all ages. It was located under the historic Caledonian Clocktower, with field games and klezmer music. Children loved the bubble show and face-painting, butterflies and Sonic the Hedgehog. Participants had an opportunity to climb the clocktower and take in the incredible views of Central London and beyond.
The Dost Centre supports 13- to 19-year-olds from refugee, asylum-seeking and migrant backgrounds across London. We offer youth sports sessions, English classes, trips and residentials to help young people connect, grow and thrive.
Thanks to support from the Mayor of London and The National Lottery Community Fund, we hosted a vibrant football tournament as part of the Mayor’s Community Weekend 2023. Over 100 young people took part in a fun-filled day of football, African drumming, volleyball, badminton and food. Youth teams came from local projects and refugee organisations. Some joined the action, others simply enjoyed the sunshine and made new friends. A wonderful time was had by everyone.
Seeds for Growth empowers communities to create green, healthy environments through gardening, social prescribing and community-building. Our Greening Communities programme focuses on social housing estates, especially the Barkantine Estate, Isle of Dogs.
During the Mayor's Community Weekend London 2023, we ran a seed-bomb-making and food-growing session at Seven Mills Primary School. Over 50 children and parents learned how to green their estate and grow food in shared spaces. It was a fun, hands-on day that brought the community together and encouraged sustainable living.
