Overview
There have been seven GLA elections of the Mayor and the London Assembly since 2000. This paper explains how the GLA elections work, including legislation, current and previous voting systems, comparison with other parliaments, voter turnout and key issues for the 2024 elections. It visualises Mayoral and Assembly results for each election and explains the D’Hondt method used for allocating London-wide seats.
