The London Assembly Economy Committee has long called for more transparency at London & Partners, the Mayor's promotional agency. It expressed frustration that L&P was unclear about its expenditure and how it reached its claims for the amount of money it has brought into the capital.
This culminated in the Committee taking the rare step of issuing a summons notice requesting documents which prove recent claims of its success. L&P complied with the summons and, later, launched a consultation on plans for a new transparency policy.
The Economy Committee has now made its submission to L&P's consultation suggesting, among other ideas, that an Assembly Member be appointed to the L&P board as an unpaid observer.
