Covid-19: London’s recovery three years on

London skyline
Created on
01 February 2023

In 2020, the Mayor and London Councils established the London Recovery Programme, overseen by the newly created London Recovery Board, with the aim of coordinating the capital’s efforts to emerge from the pandemic. The Recovery Programme has been central to the development of Recovery Missions and Foundations, around which the Mayor has aligned budgets and new projects.

Three years on from the outbreak of COVID-19, the Greater London Authority (GLA) has begun discussions with the London Recovery Board about its future relevance and role in the context of new, emerging challenges.

On Thursday the GLA Oversight Committee will meet to examine the impact and effectiveness of the London Recovery Programme and London Recovery Board, and to explore the future role and remit of the successor programme and board.

The guests are:

  • Niran Mothada, Executive Director, Strategy and Communications, GLA
  • Luke Bruce, Programme Director, Recovery Programme, GLA
  • Alison Griffin, Chief Executive, London Councils

Sector representatives:

  • Rowena Howie, London Policy Representative, Federation of Small Businesses
  • Martin Machray, Executive Director of Performance, NHS England (London Region) (virtual - 10:30 onwards)
  • Angela Spence, Chief Executive Officer, Kensington and Chelsea Social Council (virtual - 11:30 onwards)

The meeting will take place on Thursday 2 February 2023 from 10am in The Chamber, City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, E16 1ZE.

Media and members of the public are invited to attend.
