Transport and policing budgets – what’s the score?

City Hall
Created on
13 July 2022
  • Transport for London (TfL) had a £453 million saving against budget in operating costs in 2021-22, so how did this impact transport services in the capital?
  • The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) spent £138 million less in capital expenditure than planned in 2021-22, which predominatly consisted of underspends for property, digital policing and transformation. What exactly does this mean for policing services?
  • The Greater London Authority (GLA) underspent in key areas, such as rough sleeping and other housing support and Adult Education, totalling £47 million. What impact could this have?

The Budget and Performance Committee will tomorrow discuss the financial performance of the GLA Group, with a particular focus on transport, policing and the core GLA.
