Education Panel statement on A-level results

A-level Chemistry class at Harrow High School
Created on
13 August 2020

On A-level results day, Chair of the Education Panel, Jennette Arnold OBE AM, said:

“A-level results day is a nerve-wrecking time for students and their families and the Education Panel would like to congratulate those who got the results they wanted. For those that didn’t, the appeals process is open and I would urge you to use this avenue if necessary.

“A significant proportion of results have been downgraded and this must be really disappointing for the students affected by this. The Panel is concerned about the potential impact this will have on these students, and especially the potential for this impact to be even more pronounced for those from a BAME or disadvantaged background. If you are unhappy with any downgrading, get in touch with the regulator, Ofqual. A fair outcome is needed for London’s students to ensure they are equipped for the future.”
