In the face of growing demand, there is pressure on the police, fire and ambulance services to work together more effectively.
Collaboration can mean that different branches of the emergency services share the same buildings, swap intelligence and co-ordinate blue light operations on the ground.
However, there are obstacles trying to enmesh three distinct services with different cultures and operating systems.
The London Assembly Fire, Resilience and Emergency Planning Committee will tomorrow examine how collaboration is working and if it is encountering difficulties.
The following guests will attend:
- Richard Mills, Assistant Commissioner – Operational Policy and Assurance, London Fire Brigade
- Susan Ellison-Bunce, Assistant Director Strategy and Risk, London Fire Brigade
- David Shek, Regional Secretary, Fire Brigades Union
- Kevin Canavan, Head of Collaboration, London Ambulance Service
- Matthew Twist, Deputy Assistant Commissioner, Metropolitan Police
- Councillor John Robinson, Chairman of Durham and Darlington Fire Authority and Emergency Services Collaboration Working Group
- Sarah Nattrass, Assistant Chief Fire Officer, Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service
The meeting will take place on Thursday 28 March at 2.00pm in the Chamber, City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).
Media and members of the public are invited to attend.
The meeting can also be viewed LIVE via webcast or on our YouTube channel.
