Fire, Resilience and Emergency Planning Committee

The Fire, Resilience and Emergency Planning (FREP) Committee reviews the London Fire Commissioner's priorities and objectives and/or makes recommendations. Its work includes:

  • Any actions and decisions of the Mayor and/or Deputy Mayor for Fire in relation to the GLA’s fire duties and responsibilities;
  • Any actions and decisions of the London Fire Commissioner;
  • Any actions and decisions of an officer of the London Fire Commissioner;
  • Any other matters which the Assembly considers to be of importance to fire and rescue in Greater London.

Examining London's resilience, 22 November 2018

As a world city with a large and mobile population, London is particularly vulnerable to disruption in the face of a catastrophic event which threatens life or property. The Committee spoke to experts and stakeholders about emergency planning arrangements.

London Fire Brigade Q&A, 10 October 2018

The Committee examined the performance of the London Fire Brigade, including responses to an increase in fire deaths, fire safety during Diwali, Halloween and bonfire night and the continuing impact of Grenfell. Facing questions were London Fire Commissioner Dany Cotton and Deputy Mayor for Fire and Resilience Fiona Twycross AM.
