Assembly calls for funding to ensure Grenfell safety legacy

Key information

Publication type: General

Publication status: Adopted

The London Assembly Fire Committee has written to the Mayor of London, supporting calls by the London Fire Brigade (LFB) to ensure funding is provided to carry out the recommendations made by the Grenfell Tower Inquiry (GTI) Phase 2 report.

In its letter, the Committee asks the Mayor to ensure that the LFB has the resources it needs to undertake the regulatory work required of it, through his budget and his work with the government.

The letter references a number of points made by LFB Commissioner, Andy Roe, at a meeting of the Committee in September. The Commissioner endorsed the GTI Phase 2 report’s recommendation to set up a College of Fire and Rescue to provide expert training, and for work to fix fire safety issues in high-rise buildings to be completed as soon as possible.
