There appears to be a problem in London with a shortage of traffic engineers, for example needed to redesign road layout changes. Is this the case, and how is it being addressed?

New contracts for traffic signals

  • Reference: 2008/0349
  • Question by: John Biggs
  • Meeting date: 20 February 2008
Will the new contracts with Serco, Peek and Siemens for traffic signals speed up the delivery of these services? Specifically, will the new contracts improve the turnaround time for installing new lights and increase TfL's capacity to implement changes? As several schemes in City and East have suffered delays, what reassurances will the new contract with Peek offer to my constituents?

Fleet Accounts - Congestion Charge

  • Reference: 2008/0347
  • Question by: John Biggs
  • Meeting date: 20 February 2008
In order to be eligible to register a Fleet Account for the Congestion Charge, operators are currently required to register a minimum of 10 vehicles. If this number were lower, a number of smaller businesses would be able to benefit from the reduced administration and increased flexibility that Fleet Accounts offer. Will the Mayor support such a reduction?

York Hill /Lancaster Avenue/Norwood Rd Pedestrian Crossing

  • Reference: 2008/0346
  • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
  • Meeting date: 20 February 2008
I am extremely concerned to hear that after a long process of negotiation and technical analysis TfL buses have delayed an essential pedestrian safety scheme at the junction of York Hill, Lancaster Avenue and Norwood Road in West Norwood. In TfL road users hierarchy do you consider it to be more important that pedestrians and children can cross a busy junction safely or that a TfL bus may be delayed for a few seconds?

  • Meeting date: 20 February 2008
