Housing Delivery (1)

  • Reference: 2008/0373
  • Question by: Dee Doocey
  • Meeting date: 20 February 2008
The GLA Housing Requirement Study (2004) stated that 354,000 new homes were required over 10 years to meet both backlog and new demand. Rather than getting to grips with London's Housing Crisis, doesn't the delivery of 33,007 new homes in 2006/7 indicate a shortfall of 23,930 homes by the end of 2016?

Croydon Community Bus

  • Reference: 2008/0372
  • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
  • Meeting date: 20 February 2008
Whilst fully supporting the introduction of the Low Emission Zone, I have been contacted by Councillor Shafi Khan (Croydon Council) about a charity Croydon Community Bus who have an old 1983 bus converted to be a Play Bus which provides vital youth club services to deprived areas of Croydon and is likely one of many of this sort of provision across London. It will cost £6,000 to covert the bus to be compliant and £1,000 per annum to service it a large amount of money for voluntary organisations. Could there be some funding put aside to assist voluntary organisations in...

  • Reference: 2008/0371
  • Question by: John Biggs
  • Meeting date: 20 February 2008
Further to your reply 145/2008, I asked TfL directly to investigate severe overcrowding on the 174 in mid November. Can you urge TfL to increase their pace with the investigation into the 174 and other bus services at Dagenham Heathway? Can you advise when I, and the many inconvenienced residents, can expect a reply and solution to this frustrating situation?

Northern Line

  • Reference: 2008/0370
  • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
  • Meeting date: 20 February 2008
My constituents would like to know whether you think that the current service on the Northern Line is fit for purpose and puts passengers first? For example, morning journeys before 10 am travelling from Kings Cross to Hampstead forces commuters to have to make an additional change at Camden Town which causes them to then become part of the already congested station?

Small Businesses in Stoke Newington

  • Reference: 2008/0369
  • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
  • Meeting date: 20 February 2008
Will the Mayor update me on the action that he proposes to take to address concerns raised by over 100 local Turkish and Kurdish business people within my constituency? Their petition with 1,300 signatures contains the following: a) Loss of income, which they estimate up to 75% as a result of current TfL parking restrictions b) The impracticality of the current loading bay restrictions, which allow for a period of only 20 minutes loading or unloading c) Lack of Pay and Display bays on both the main road and the adjacent side roads d) Location of the those bays that...

Funding for bus route 816, which comes from the Urban Bus Challenge, will come to an end on March 31st. Does the Mayor agree with me that based on passenger satisfaction levels this essential 'feeder' service should continue?

Youth Offer

  • Reference: 2008/0365
  • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
  • Meeting date: 20 February 2008
The LDA very insensitively turned down a New Opportunities fund application from a club offering football activities to youngsters on Council estates in Norwood/Gipsy Hill because the application was ten minutes late. (Question 2521/2006 Meeting date 15/11/2006 refers) Will the LDA be writing to this organisation with information about how to apply for Youth Offer funding?

Peckham Rd/Talfourd Road

  • Reference: 2008/0364
  • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
  • Meeting date: 20 February 2008
In October TfL told me that they would undertake improvements to paving and move street furniture at the junction of Peckham Rd and Talfourd Road to make the crossing safer for blind and partially sighted pedestrians. They said the work would be done in November, but to date it has not been done. When will the work be done?
