Emissions from Construction

  • Reference: 2017/1773
  • Question by: Leonie Cooper
  • Meeting date: 22 March 2017
A constituent has asked me to pose the following question: With the staggering increase in construction within London, does the Mayor have plans to monitor and reduce the emissions and particulate matter produced through the construction process? This includes all the large vehicles bringing materials to the sites. I walk from Liverpool Street Station to Mansion House twice a day as part of my commute. As a Londoner I have never really noticed the polluted air that my friends from outside London have pointed, but recently I have begun to feel the effects of the poor air quality, especially walking...

Cleaner bus routes

  • Reference: 2017/1772
  • Question by: Leonie Cooper
  • Meeting date: 22 March 2017
One of my constituents, who lives in sheltered housing and has restricted mobility, has asked why bus routes 28 and 220 do not as yet have the new cleaner buses on these routes, and why is Mapleton Road still being used by such buses, which are polluting the area near the sheltered accommodation?

Pollution Vacuums

  • Reference: 2017/1771
  • Question by: Leonie Cooper
  • Meeting date: 22 March 2017
I have been contacted by a constituent about pollution vacuums [[]2], which the inventors say that can filter 95% of ultra-fine particles and 100% of fine particles out of the air. It cleans 80,000 m³ of air per hour within a 300-meter radius and up to a height of 7km [[]3]. Given the toxic air quality in London, would the Mayor consider installing pollution vacuums as part of the solution?

Over 60s travel card (1)

  • Reference: 2017/1768
  • Question by: Leonie Cooper
  • Meeting date: 22 March 2017
I have been contacted by a constituent, who asks: The 'sixty plus' Oyster Card is an excellent benefit for older people in London, but the initial application must be done online, meaning over 60s without internet access at home; or who are not computer-literate are not able to apply for the card and thus benefit from free-travel. Please can you investigate and provide a method of applying for the card without online application being the sole option?
