Analysis by Inside Housing has shown a clear link between hotspots of COVID-19 deaths and overcrowding - of the 20 local authority areas where COVID-19 has claimed most lives per 100,000 people, 14 also have the highest percentage of households in homes with fewer bedrooms than they need. London has many overcrowded households and tackling overcrowding will be key to a sustainable COVID-19 recovery. What support can be offered to these households now, and what more will be done to minimise overcrowding in the future?
